In electric mobility, a battery is considered end-of-life when it has lost between 20% and 30% of its storage capacity. However, this does not mean that it is no longer viable for purposes other than electric mobility.

Indeed, buffer batteries are needed for domestic energy storage (e.g. in stand-alone homes), for any renewable energy or hydrogen production system, or for industrial load shedding during peak consumption periods. Batteries considered as used when it comes to electric mobility are perfectly suitable.

REV Mobilities is keen on giving these batteries a second life, and calls on its network of partners to judge the best possible uses for them. Once their second life is over, the batteries brought back into circulation by REV will end up in a recycling plant, where they will be dismantled (98% of a battery’s components can be recycled: into ferrous material for the steel industry, into non-ferrous material for aluminum in construction, for example, or into raw material for new batteries) before these components are released put back into circulation.
